People and trains move quickly in the Paris metro. The challenge for the photographer is to decide whether to stop the action through a high ISO setting or by using flash, or take the opposite tack and make the movement an integral part of the image. Here I used a very slow shutter speed, even lower than I needed to, and let the motion tell the story.
Impressionistic? Yes. I had just come from admiring the work of painters like Monet who created such evocative images in the impressionist style. That was a catalyst to try something different. This image may never win a typical photography contest but I would be happy to hang it on my wall.
